The former Birkenstock USA warehouse, a local landmark for decades, is now being offered for sale by its owners, an affiliate of the Birkenstock family.
The 88-acre property includes a 174,000-square-foot warehouse and two office buildings totaling 33,000 square feet. The property is expected to fetch a price in the high $30 million to low $40 million range.
The iconic roof was redone in 2018, and the buildings themselves are reportedly in excellent condition, having been built to high standards. Originally designed by renowned architect John S. Bolles for McGraw-Hill in 1962, the property became home to Birkenstock’s U.S. distributorship in 1992.
Birkenstock’s operations shifted several times over the years, finally moving to their current location on Wood Hollow Drive in Novato in 2020.
