The Schell-Vista Fire Protection District is getting a new fire engine.
The custom-built Class 1 pumper, purchased from Pierce Manufacturers, will replace a more than 20-year-old truck. Fire Chief Ray Mulas says the new engine, costing $880,000 after a cash discount, is shorter and easier to maneuver on the district’s rural roads. It also boasts a larger pumping capacity, allowing Schell-Vista to better support neighboring fire departments.
The new engine is currently being prepped in Sacramento and is expected to arrive in Schell-Vista in the coming weeks.
