Petaluma City Schools has announced the new name for its merged elementary school: Valley Vista Public Waldorf. The school, a combination of Valley Vista and Live Oak Charter, will open its doors at the Valley Vista campus in the 2025-26 school year.
The name was unanimously approved by the school board after a collaborative process involving community input. Declining enrollment and facility challenges led to the merger, which was approved last December.
School leaders say the naming process, which included multiple public meetings and a dedicated committee, brought a sense of healing to the community. The committee included representatives from both former schools, ensuring a unified decision.
