Santa Rosa City Schools will be closing three elementary schools. Brook Hill and Albert Biella elementary schools will close at the end of the school year in June. Steele Lane Elementary School will shut down in June of 2026.
The board of trustees, facing financial challenges, came to the decision on Wednesday night, following a six-hour meeting at Santa Rosa City Hall. However, the trustees could not reach a decision on which middle schools or high schools to close.
The board was weighing two closure scenarios. One would have seen Elise Allen High School closed and the other would have shut down Montgomery High School.
Trustees are now discussing a new scenario that would delay the closure of Elsie Allen High School by one year.
