A man is dead after being swept out to sea off the Sonoma Coast.
The incident happened at about 10:45 Sunday morning, at the Gerstle Cove campground in Salt Point State Park, between Sea Ranch and Jenner. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says two men were standing on rocks, when a wave hit them and swept one out to sea.
The man was rescued from the water by a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and flown to land, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
