Renovations at the Polly Klaas Community Theater in Petaluma have begun with hope to open the theater before the end of the year. The Polly Klaas Foundation hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for renovations on Friday with nearly 50 people in attendance, observing social distancing rules. The project will cost nearly $2-million. The Foundation has received $900,000 in cash donations and over a million dollars from local companies with inkind donations. Team Ghilotti will be doing most of the construction and extensive repairs including installing new support beams and sewer infrastructure. The theater that had hosted many youth performances had closed in 2000 due to lack of funds from the city.
