Active cases of coronavirus have more than doubled over the weekend. On Friday, active cases were listed at 4,181. Today they are at 8,904, a record high for Sonoma County. Along with that, our test positivity rate and overall case rate have reached new pandemic highs and two more deaths were reported over the weekend bringing the fatality total to 421. Health officials say the Omicron variant’s higher infection rate is the cause of these record highs, but they do stress that it is causing less severe cases.
