Homeless people that have legally been living in two of Sonoma County’s hotels now have until April 15th to get out. The Astro Motel near Downtown Santa Rosa and the Holiday Inn in Windsor have served as shelters for at-risk homeless people during the pandemic. Earlier this week, 72 people seeking shelter at the properties were told they’d be booted out on March 15th. Last night, county officials changed their plans. The Holiday Inn will now serve as a shelter through April 15th, and those staying at the Astro Motel will be offered beds there. Sonoma County is closing the shelters because federal emergency funding is about to expire.
