The Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa will file for bankruptcy today. The move to file for chapter 11 comes as they face over 200 new legal claims over childhood sexual abuse. The move automatically freezes all lawsuits so they can be settled through federal bankruptcy court. Santa Rosa Bishop Robert Vasa stated in a press release “I remain convinced that it is a necessary step for the Diocese and the only way to resolve the claims which have been presented against it.”
