The Forty and Eight Flea Market is shutting down after 58 years. The flea market had been held at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building since 1964. Over the years, six-hundred-thousand-dollars in proceeds were donated to local nursing students. The flea market was held on five Sundays annually, beginning in the spring. The final one was last September. Bob Safreno, secretary and treasurer of the local Forty and Eight chapter, says he and the other people running the flea market aged out and couldn’t get younger people to come in and take over.
