The Press Democrat reports that the Windsor Town Council is considering a local sales tax for an upcoming ballot. Windsor is the only town in Sonoma County without one.
This comes as the town faces an $8 million budget shortfall over the next two years, driven by rising costs and declining sales and hotel taxes. They’ll use reserves to cover the gap.
While many discretionary items were cut, the council did fund some community programs. They’ll formally adopt the two-year budget on June 18th.
