New Report Shows Steep Drop In Avelo Airlines Passengers

New data for May shows a steep 32.7% drop in passengers for Avelo Airlines, coinciding with the airline pulling out of its local base operations.

However, it’s not all slow going. The Press Democrat reports both Alaska Airlines and American Airlines saw significant increases, up 17.4% and 20.8% respectively. Airport manager Jon Stout attributes Avelo’s decline to their base closure and reduced routes.

Despite Avelo’s drop, the airport itself is thriving. Overall passenger numbers for the first five months of this year are up over 22%, thanks to strong growth from Alaska and American.
