Gas Prices Could Jump As High As 70 Cents A Gallon Beginning July 1st

Starting July 1st, Californians can expect a significant jump in gas prices, potentially close to 70 cents per gallon.

Per the Press Democrat, this increase is due to a double-whammy: the annual state gas and diesel excise tax hike, and stricter new regulations from the California Air Resources Board. These new rules, part of the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard program, aim to encourage refineries to produce cleaner fuels.

Experts are still crunching the exact numbers, but estimates suggest the Low Carbon Fuel Standard amendments alone could add substantial costs in the coming years.
