Dump Truck Driver Facing Charges One Year After Deadly Crash

Nearly a year later, a dump truck driver from Santa Rosa is facing a charge in connection with a crash that killed a retired teacher.

The dozen-vehicle pileup happened on Highway 12 last August 29th. Seventy-eight-year-old Pat LaFortune, a longtime Cardinal Newman High School history teacher and track coach, was killed. Seven other people were hospitalized.

The dump truck driver, Richard Adams, has been charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Court proceedings are scheduled to continue on September 24th.
