The City of Sonoma and the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) are hosting a Food and Funds Drive this Friday to assist thousands of local residents facing delays in federal food aid benefits.
The Sonoma Index-Tribune reports the drive-thru event takes place Friday, November 14th, from 1 PM to 5 PM at Sonoma City Hall, 1 The Plaza. Officials note that delays in CalFresh benefits are causing growing food insecurity, with the REFB assisting over 1,500 new families last month alone.
The public is invited to donate nonperishable food items, such as canned tuna and peanut butter, or make financial contributions, as every dollar donated can provide $3 worth of food to those in need.
