Developer Submits Revised Plan For Controversial Petaluma Luxury Hotel Project

Developer EKN Development has filed a revised, smaller plan for its controversial Petaluma luxury hotel project.

According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, the new application proposes a four-story, 56-room hotel, a significant reduction from the original six-story, 93-room design. This move comes as the original plan faces strong opposition, including a resident-led referendum on its necessary zoning change. Petaluma City officials note that the original, larger plan is still active.

Mayor Kevin McDonnell is unhappy with the smaller proposal, predicting reduced tourist revenue for downtown businesses.

The city awaits the developer’s application fee before beginning its review.
