Air quality officials have issued a Spare the Air Alert for the Bay Area, banning all wood burning today and tomorrow.
The Bay Area News Group reports this means residents and businesses cannot use fireplaces, woodstoves, or outdoor fire pits for the next two days. The ban comes after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, as a high-pressure ridge over the Pacific Coast is trapping pollutants near the surface.
This marks the third and fourth Spare the Air days of 2025.
