The historic Simi Winery of Healdsburg, a Sonoma County brand dating back to 1876, has been purchased by Central Coast-based WarRoom Cellars.
According to the North Bay Business Journal, this acquisition comes just seven months after the brand was initially sold by Constellation Brands to The Wine Group earlier this year.
WarRoom Cellars, known for revitalizing “heritage wine brands,” stated the Simi acquisition fits its strategy of accelerating growth for legacy names in a consolidating wine market. WarRoom’s President emphasized their process of honoring a brand’s history while bringing fresh relevance to consumers.
Simi Winery is notable for having operated continuously since the 19th century, even navigating Prohibition. The financial details of the sale were not disclosed.
