Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest on Weapons and Drug Charges

In Santa Rosa early yesterday morning, a routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a local man on serious felony charges.

Around 12:36 AM Tuesday, a Santa Rosa Police Officer stopped a vehicle near Steele Lane and Berkeley Drive for a vehicle code violation. The officer identified the driver as 55-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Steven Molina, and a records check confirmed he was on searchable probation.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered approximately 113 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm “ghost gun”—a privately manufactured firearm without a serial number—found in a bag under the passenger seat. The weapon was loaded with an extended, 15-round magazine.

Molina, who is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on multiple charges, including felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
