Former Sonoma Academy Teacher Accused Of Sexual Misconduct Sues School

A former Sonoma Academy teacher accused of sexually harassing and engaging in inappropriate behavior with over two-dozen students is suing the school.

Marco Morrone filed a cross-complaint in Sonoma County Superior Court denying the allegations and claiming Sonoma Academy’s culture creates a breeding ground for false allegations. Morrone says the school’s non-traditional environment blurred boundaries between teachers and students and rewarded adolescent temper tantrums and melodrama.

Morrone is accused of acting in an “inappropriate” and “sexually charged” way with over 30 girls who graduated from 2005 to 2021. Morrone has also filed a separate legal motion formally objecting to a pending settlement between the school and a group of 12 graduates who sued over the alleged misconduct.

In his complaint, Morrone calls the plaintiffs “entitled alumni” and accused the school of pacifying and coddling them.
