Three juveniles are in custody following a fatal stabbing in San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood earlier this week.
According to the Marin Independent Journal, police have arrested three minors from Petaluma in connection with the death of 44-year-old Jason James Lee. Lee was assaulted Tuesday night near Mill and Hoag streets; he later died at a local hospital.
San Rafael investigators used a drone to locate Lee at the scene and worked with Petaluma police to track down the suspects. While a motive is still under investigation, authorities say they have not ruled out gang involvement.
The three suspects are currently facing homicide charges in juvenile hall. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public, though patrols in the area have been increased.
