Sonoma Volunteers Donate Over 350 Handmade Items To Nonprofits

A local tradition of warmth and community is continuing in Sonoma.

Per the Sonoma Index-Tribune, on December 10th, the Nut Tree Knitters gathered for their annual celebratory potluck, but the real stars of the table weren’t the food—they were the 357 handmade scarves, hats, and baby items destined for those in need.

Formed in 2011 by a group of neighbors on Nut Tree Lane, the group has since expanded across Sonoma. This year’s donation was a true community effort, with extra pieces coming in from the Needle Natters and customers of local shop Noma Knits.

The items were collected by Secret Santa, a nonprofit that has been serving the region for over 30 years.  Member Judy Miller says the group feels especially gratified knowing how much their handiwork is treasured by the community during the winter months.
