Sonoma has a new leadership team for 2026.
The Sonoma Index-Tribune reports at the final meeting of the year, the City Council selected Ron Wellander as the city’s new Mayor and Sandra Lowe as Vice Mayor. Wellander, a 40-year Sonoma resident and former planning commissioner, takes the gavel from outgoing Mayor Patricia Farrar-Rivas, who was honored for her work on affordable housing and climate goals.
In other year-end business, the council approved a 19-week season for the 2026 Tuesday Night Market, which will kick off May 5th. The new leadership team officially gets to work when the council reconvenes on January 26th.
