Sonoma County Invested $90 Million Into Road & Bridge Repair Projects This Past Year

Sonoma County hit a new high for roadwork this year, pouring 90 million dollars into repairs and bridge replacements across the region.

Public infrastructure officials say 2025 was a landmark year, driven largely by the need to fix damage from recent winter storms and aging bridges. More than 21 million dollars was spent just on repairing six major roads damaged by slides, including Westside and Fitch Mountain Roads.

While the county also repaved about 21 miles of roadway, challenges remain. Despite the record spending, Sonoma County still ties for the second-lowest pavement rating in the Bay Area. Officials note that environmental restrictions and a massive network of over 1,300 miles make catching up a slow process.

The work isn’t slowing down. Three major bridge projects totaling 40 million dollars are slated to begin next year, along with 25 additional miles of planned paving.
