Stemple Creek Ranch in Tomales has been honored with the prestigious Leopold Conservation Award, a national prize often called the “Super Bowl of regenerative agriculture.”
Per the Press Democrat, fourth-generation rancher Loren Poncia and his wife Lisa earned the recognition for transforming their 400-acre family plot into an 8,000-acre organic operation that focuses on soil health and carbon sequestration.
By using rotational grazing to mimic natural ecosystems, the ranch now provides high-end grass-fed beef to local markets and world-renowned restaurants like Berkeley’s Chez Panisse.
