Caltrans is officially shifting gears on Highway 101, announcing that those controversial, extended carpool hours across Marin and Sonoma will be scaled back starting late next month.
Beginning in late February, the HOV lanes from Windsor to the Richardson Bay Bridge will only be restricted from 6 to 9 in the morning and 3 to 6:30 in the evening.
The move follows heavy backlash from North Bay drivers who faced massive gridlock under the previous schedule, with officials now hoping these shorter windows finally get traffic moving again.
