Santa Rosa Councilmember Victoria Fleming is calling for a ban on federal immigration operations at city-owned facilities, following a series of deadly shootings by federal agents in Minnesota.
According to the Press Democrat, in an open letter, Fleming urged her colleagues to establish ‘ICE-free zones’ and require judicial warrants for any federal access to city property, resources, or communications.
The proposal aligns Santa Rosa with several other Bay Area cities that have recently moved to shield their immigrant communities from what Fleming describes as ‘domestic paramilitary’ tactics.
