Petaluma’s historic downtown fire station is officially moving out this month to make way for a massive eight-million-dollar renovation.
According to the Petaluma Argus-Courier, the project will upgrade the 1930s-era building with seismic retrofitting and gender-neutral quarters, all while preserving the classic brass pole and creating a new public display for the city’s vintage 1937 fire engine.
Crews have temporarily relocated to the site of the old Casa Grande Motel to ensure emergency response times don’t skip a beat during the year-long construction.
