Candidates For 4th Congressional District Focusing On Monday’s Online Forum

Voters in the 4th Congressional District got their first look at the field on Monday as incumbent Mike Thompson faced off against two progressive challengers in a lively online forum.

Per the Sonoma Index-Tribune, while Thompson touted his “battle-tested” record on wildfire relief and gun violence, 34-year-old Eric Jones and 25-year-old Trevor Merrell argued it’s time for a new generation of leadership that rejects corporate money and fights for universal healthcare.

The candidates also sparred over the future of federal immigration funding and how to handle the Trump administration’s policies, giving the nearly 100 attendees a clear look at the growing divide within the local Democratic party ahead of the June primary.
