Petaluma Police Apprehend Suspect Following Attempted Break-In at Lucchesi Park

A Petaluma man is back in custody following a violent struggle with police at Lucchesi Park last Wednesday.

Per the Press Democrat, officers responded to reports of a break-in near Novak Drive around 4:40 p.m., where they spotted 32-year-old Jimmy Soriano-Vazquez attempting to enter a building.

Police say Soriano-Vazquez led an officer on a foot chase before turning and fighting with them. The officer deployed a stun gun to end a brief standoff, and Soriano-Vazquez was taken into custody without injuries to either party.

This marks the third arrest in less than a year for the suspect, who was already on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. He now faces new charges including assaulting an officer, burglary, and felony vandalism.

Soriano-Vazquez remains held at the Sonoma County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
