Driver Arrested After Inhaling “Whippets” During Sebastopol Building Crash

A driver is behind bars this morning after slamming his SUV into a brick building in Sebastopol while allegedly inhaling nitrous oxide.

The Press Democrat reports police arrived at the 6000 block of Sebastopol Avenue around 6 a.m. Tuesday to find a black Land Rover lodged in a wall, with the driver still inside and actively using the inhalant, commonly known as “whippets.”

Before the impact, the vehicle reportedly jumped a curb near Westamerica Bank and plowed through a parking lot, uprooting several trees. The driver was treated at a local hospital before being booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI; he remains in custody on $10,000 bail.
