Authorities have identified an East Bay man who died following a water emergency at Point Reyes National Seashore over the weekend.
According to the Marin Independent Journal, 30-year-old Adi Handach of Oakland was spotted roughly 100 feet offshore at North Beach on Sunday afternoon. Officials say a friend attempted a rescue, and by the time Marin County Fire crews arrived, Handach had been brought back to the sand.
A CHP helicopter rushed him to a hospital in Sonoma County, but he was tragically pronounced dead. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the exact cause of death.
