American Canyon Man Linked to Serial Bank Robbery Spree

An American Canyon man remains in custody today after investigators linked him to a string of four bank robberies across Sonoma and Marin Counties.

According to the Press Democrat, Allen Sanchez Olivares is accused of targeting banks in Rohnert Park, San Anselmo, San Rafael, and Novato throughout the month of February by handing tellers notes demanding cash.

Authorities used license plate scanners to track his sedan to each crime scene before executing a search warrant at his home last week. While no weapons were actually used, the notes allegedly contained threats that led to a multi-agency investigation involving several local police departments.

Olivares, who has no prior criminal history, was ordered by a judge Tuesday to return to court on March 25th to enter a plea. He is currently being held at the Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
