Medical Device Maker to Close Silicon Valley Plant

The future of a major medical manufacturing facility in Santa Rosa remains unclear following news that its parent company will shutter a nearby Silicon Valley plant.

The North Bay Business Journal reports Endologix LLC, which produces life-saving vascular devices near the Sonoma County airport, recently filed notices to lay off 31 workers and permanently close its Milpitas location this spring. While the company has not yet commented on how this move might affect its 110,000-square-foot Santa Rosa operation, the site has a long history in the region, dating back to the founding of TriVascular in 1998.

The news comes after years of corporate restructuring and a 2020 bankruptcy that saw the firm taken private by a healthcare equity fund.

Local officials and employees are now watching closely to see if the consolidation will reach the North Bay or if Santa Rosa will remain a primary hub for the company’s stent production.
