A Petaluma man is behind bars this morning after police say he accidentally shot his roommate in the leg Saturday night.
The Press Democrat reports officers responded to the 1600 block of Baywood Drive after the victim called to report he had been wounded; 53-year-old Michael Millane was arrested at the scene on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm.
While the roommate was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Petaluma police are using the incident to remind residents of the critical importance of firearm safety and secure storage.
