The Santa Rosa Police Department has arrested a 23-year-old Cotati resident following a multi-month investigation into narcotics sales throughout Sonoma County.
On March 30th, detectives apprehended Kevin Garcia-Ortiz in Petaluma before executing search warrants in Cotati and Penngrove.
The search of a Penngrove property uncovered two 9mm handguns, a pound of suspected cocaine, and thousands of counterfeit pills believed to contain lethal doses of fentanyl and methamphetamine. Officers also seized drug packaging materials and digital scales, pointing to a large-scale distribution operation.
Garcia-Ortiz, a convicted felon already on active probation for prior drug sales, now faces multiple fresh charges, including possession of narcotics for sale and illegal possession of firearms.
He has been booked into the Sonoma County Jail as the investigation continues.
