Santa Rosa Police Set Friday Night DUI Checkpoint

The Santa Rosa Police Department will be out in force this Friday, April 17th, conducting a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Officers are targeting high-incident areas to remove impaired drivers and improve overall road safety. Authorities remind residents that impairment includes not just alcohol, but also prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and legal marijuana.

A first-time DUI conviction can carry a heavy price tag, averaging $13,500 in fines and a suspended license. This enforcement effort is part of a safety initiative funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Police urge everyone to plan ahead and designate a sober driver to ensure a safe start to the weekend.
