Authorities have identified 88-year-old Nils Hakansson of Sebastopol as the driver killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening in Sea Ranch.
Per the Press Democrat, the California Highway Patrol reports that Hakansson was attempting to turn his Tesla onto Highway 1 from Yardham Drive when he was struck by a southbound Dodge pickup towing a trailer. Hakansson was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Tesla was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries, while the driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries.
Investigators are continuing to look into the circumstances of the collision.
