Secret Disclosures Threaten Convictions of Five Hells Angels Members

The murder and mayhem convictions of five Hells Angels members, including a former Sonoma County chapter president, are under fire following secret federal disclosures.

According to a report from the Bay Area News Group, U.S. District Judge Edward Chen has sealed the new information, but defense attorneys say it justifies a motion for a new trial. The men were convicted in high-profile cases involving the 2014 murder of a fellow member and a brutal maiming.

Several of the defendants were originally arrested during a 2017 raid at Santa Rosa’s Wagon Wheel Saloon. While three are currently serving life sentences, the new evidence could trigger an evidentiary hearing involving FBI agents and a confidential informant.

Both the prosecution and the court have yet to reveal the nature of the evidence that could upend these long-standing verdicts.
