Santa Rosa Encouraging Vigilance To Protect Cyclists

As warmer weather brings more cyclists to the streets of Santa Rosa, the Police Department is launching a month-long safety operation to prevent tragedies on our roads.

Following a national surge in cycling fatalities, officers will be out in force targeting high-risk behaviors like speeding, illegal turns, and failing to yield. Drivers are reminded to stay patient, look twice before turning, and give riders at least three feet of space when passing.

Meanwhile, bicyclists should always ride with the flow of traffic, use lights at night, and wear a helmet to stay protected.

Whether you’re on two wheels or four, please stay alert and share the road so everyone reaches their destination safely.
