The influx has resulted in long waitlists for neighborhood schools, forcing some families to choose between schools miles apart or paying for private preschool. District officials have added sixteen specialized classrooms to meet demand and are prioritizing new facilities at Monte Vista and Marguerite Hahn elementary schools.
While parents describe the placement process as a major stressor, district leaders express confidence that every applicant will be offered a seat before the end of the month.
