Hundreds March Through Santa Rosa For May Day Labor Demonstration

Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Santa Rosa this past Friday to mark May Day, joining a nationwide wave of action focused on workers’ rights.

The Press Democrat organized by North Bay Jobs with Justice, the march brought together over four dozen unions and advocacy groups under the theme of “worker power.” Participants highlighted urgent concerns regarding historically low wages, high inflation, and the recent economic decline within the region’s wine industry.

This year’s event also commemorated the 20th anniversary of the historic 2006 immigrant rights marches, linking past struggles for reform to current economic challenges. Organizers emphasized that the demonstration is part of a renewed effort to build a unified, worker-led movement across the North Bay.

The march concluded peacefully, serves as a loud reminder of the ongoing push for improved conditions for the area’s agricultural and working-class families.
