Petaluma Police Launch Safety Sweep For Cyclists & Pedestrians

Petaluma drivers will want to be on your their behavior today as police launch a major traffic safety operation running from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Petaluma Argus-Courier reports officers are out in force with extra patrols specifically looking for dangerous driving habits like speeding, failing to yield, and making illegal turns that put people on foot or bikes at risk.

Sergeant Mario Giomi says the goal is to remind everyone that we all share the road, but bicyclists and pedestrians are the most vulnerable. This high-visibility enforcement is funded by state and federal grants to help drive down accidents and keep the streets safe.

So, whether you’re behind the wheel or on two wheels, stay alert, follow the signals, and look out for one another today.
