There are new details about a weather-related incident that left a two-and-a-half-year-old boy dead southwest of Occidental. On Wednesday night, a redwood tree fell into a mobile home, pinning the boy underneath. Family members say his father was sitting on a couch about five-feet away, but was not seriously injured. His mother was outside and witnessed the tree fall through the roof. The parents and their neighbors tried driving a truck into the tree to shift it. They ended up sawing enough pieces off the tree to get to their son. He was given CPR by first responders, but did not survive.
