Sonoma County has updated its wildfire protection plan. The Board of Supervisors approved the update yesterday, the first time since 2016. The plan provides statistical data about wildfire risks, vulnerable populations, and risk reduction strategies to assist government, nonprofits and community groups seeking to implement projects to help protect their communities. It also provides tools to help county residents create risk reduction projects that will have the highest benefit to protect lives, property and the environment. Over 20 meetings were held by county staff to update the plan, including two in each supervisorial district.
