Sonoma County District Attorney Carla Rodriguez isn’t happy after a man convicted for his role in a home invasion robbery had his sentence drastically reduced. The man, who took part in a home invasion robbery in Santa Rosa in 2017, was initially sentenced to 57 years to life in prison. But, the sentence was reduced to eight years and eight months after Judge Bradford DeMeo dismissed what had previously been considered a strike. DeMeo is the judge who originally sentenced the man. On Tuesday, Rodriguez said the decision highlights a “troubling pattern in the reduction of serious consequences” for repeat offenders.
