Santa Rosa police officers were busy writing citations during the first week of school. Last week, more police were added to traffic patrols around school as students returned to class. As a result, 85 citations were issued for distracted driver violations and speeding violations. The busiest day was last Thursday, with 30 citations handed out to drivers around schools. Santa Rosa Police will be increasing enforcement efforts at the schools, twice weekly, during the school year and also responding to complaints as they arise.
