Sonoma County Focus – 16th Annual Bucket Brigade Challenge
Host Michelle Marques talks about the upcoming 16th Annual Bucket Brigade Challenge that starts on December 4th and runs through January 2021. Guests Kim Walsh, Vitalant donor recruitment representative, Hannah Morales, blood recipient, and Erich Engle, Sonoma County Fire District talk about the importance of blood donation and how easy it can be, with most donors able to complete the entire process in an hour.
The Bucket Brigade Challenge, now in its 16th season, is a friendly competition among participating fire departments in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties to see which department can host the largest blood drive by enlisting firefighters, friends, family and the community to donate lifesaving blood during the holiday season. All donors receive a Bucket Brigade T-shirt! While supplies last.

Host Jeff Davis talks with Fabiano Ramichi of Mora Estate about his unique method of winemaking called Amarone style wine. After harvesting and prior to fermentation, grapes are placed on drying racks, stacked and left to dry for 90 to 120 days in a Zen-like environment. This method, known as Appassimento, dates back to ancient Rome. Fabiano hand paints each bottle of wine, an expression of art both inside and outside the bottle!
