Sonoma County Focus – Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership

sonomacountyfocussquare

Host Michelle Marques talks with Spring Maxfield, Director of the Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership about the non-profit and her efforts to facilitate creative, engaging art experiences for the people of Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership began in 2017 to help the city bring back vitality to Juilliard Park. Art is a vital part of keeping communities healthy and engaged, and it can and SHOULD be a viable way for creatives to make a living and participate in the local economy.

For the past three years, SR Urban Arts Partnership has been involved in producing the WinterBlast event in the South A Street Art District (SOFA), and now is producing the West End Block Party and Summer Market at the area around the DeTurk Round Barn just north of Railroad Square on Sunday, June 30th. There will likely be additional West End Block Party events as the summer continues.

There is also an Art Alley Mural project open to interested artists, and Santa Rosa's 1st Annual Open Studios for Santa Rosa Artists.

ROCK’nVINO – Movies on the Lawn at The Madrona

During this episode of ROCK’nVINO, hosts Coco and Michelle talk with Art Murray, owner of Flambeaux Wine and Cory Schisler, co-owner of The Madrona about a great summer film series called Movies on the Lawn at The Madrona. Cory and his business partner took ownership of The Madrona during the pandemic and opened the doors in the Spring of 2022, giving the space new life and creativity. He is directly involved in all aspects of guest experiences at The Madrona, from curating music playlists for each area of the property, to adjust the lighting until it is juuuust right! In 2023, The Madrona worked with AVFilm to create a fun summer film experience, and this year it is even better, paired with a different winery each month. Tickets include comfy blankets, popcorn and snacks, a glass of wine, and headphones to enjoy the show, as well as perfectly paired movies. Art Murray calls The Madrona his home away from home. Art loves to visit (almost daily, he says) and so presenting the film Labyrinth along with Flambeaux Wine was a natural fit. You can get tickets to see Labyrinth on July 10th by clicking here.

ROCK’nVINO is sponsored by American AgCredit.

The Good Stuff – Robert Young Estate Winery

In this episode of The Good Stuff presented by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, hosts Virginie Boone and Karissa Kruse talk with Dan Rotlisberger, Vineyard Estate Manager for Robert Young Estate Winery. Dan is a fifth generation Alexander Valley farmer and board member for Sonoma County Winegrowers. Dan is also the great grandnephew of Robert Young's late wife Gertrude. He learned how to be a farmer from his grandfather, who Dan says was one of the hardest workers he ever knew. Prior to his role at Robert Young, Dan worked as a Senior Viticulturist at Redwood Empire Vineyard Management - a job he liked to call Vineyard University, because he dealt with all kinds of varietals and learned all aspects of vineyard management. At Robert Young he has helped to replant older blocks, and has made a commitment to sustainability, especially knowing that the decisions he makes will impact generations. And finally, Virginie and Karissa share their Tuesday Night wine picks.

The Good Stuff – Papapietro Perry

Ben and Yolanda talk about their interest in wine and how it went from hobby winemaking in their garage to becoming serious home winemakers in San Francisco, to their eventual partnership with Bruce and Renae Perry and a move to Sonoma County. Each step along the way deepened their appreciation for getting the best fruit and making the best wine possible with it. And now their avid club members share in this passion for great wine by going on cruises to wine regions around the world, always with a love for the amazing wines made by Ben.
