Sonoma County Focus – The LIME Foundation 2024 Believe the Dream Gala

Host Michelle Marques talks with Letitia Hanke, Executive Director of The LIME Foundation about the upcoming 2024 Believe the Dream Gala on September 12th, from 6pm to 9pm at the Graton Event Center. The fundraiser will support all of the different initiatives and programs of The LIME Foundation, including the very successful and popular NextGen Trades Academy that introduces at risk youth to the trades, with multiple classes each year. Students get online and in person training not only in the various careers available in the trades like roofing, plumbing, and solar, but they also get basic life skills like learning how to budget, how to invest, stress management and more. Experts in the field share their experience with students, and many graduates of the program are able to jump right into the fields they are interested in after completing the course.
The NextGen Revolution is expanding to other fields beyond the trades, and is now signing up youth interested in working in the auto industry, culinary arts, aviation, and space! Learn more by clicking here.
The 2024 Believe the Dream Gala will feature entertainment (including from a celebrity guest), food, beverages, auction lots, dancing, and more! Get tickets today at believelime.com.
The Good Stuff – Sommelier Experience
In this episode of The Good Stuff presented by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, hosts Virginie Boone and Karissa Kruse talk with Rachel Thralls, Sommelier and Wine Educator for Sonoma County Winegrowers, and Wanda Cole-Nicholson, Advanced Sommelier and 3rd year returning sommelier for the Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience. These talented women chat about the role of sommeliers in communicating all aspects of a wine to their audience, be it customers at a restaurant, television viewers, or fellow somms. Wanda talks about her experience in various roles as a sommelier and her love for learning more about wine. They also chat about their experiences meeting grape growers at the Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience and how vital that is to get a full picture of the terroir of Sonoma County and its multiple AVAs. Rachel and Wanda talk about pairing lesser known varietals with sweet and savory snack foods, as well as a lightning pairing challenge round with Virginie and Karissa. And finally, Virginie and Karissa share their Tuesday Night wine picks.
Raise the Roof with Letitia Hanke – Pride Month and Homes 4 the Homeless

In today’s episode, Letitia Hanke, CEO of ARS Roofing and Founder and Executive Director of The LIME Foundation opens the show with details about Pride month. There are many ways to celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community. Check out SonomaCountyPride.org for a list of events all month long, and posimages.org for Sonoma County's LGBTQIA+ Community Center.
Letitia also shares tips to maintain your roof as fire season begins:
1 – Regular maintenance can spot issues before they become a problem! Loose shingles can trap debris, which could be fuel for a wildfire.
2 – Clean your gutters and roof, and consider gutter guards.
3 – Trim overhanging branches - any vegetation touching or overhanging your home could catch on fire, and subsequently catch your home on fire.
The NextGen Trades Academy has open classes coming up for August 8th. Apply today at The LIME Foundation.
Mark your calendar for the 9th Annual Believe in the Dream Gala coming up on September 12th at the Graton Event Center. Letitia thanks supporters of The LIME Foundation, including Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, ARS Roofing, Active 20/30 Club 50, Midstate Construction, Nature Pacific Pest Control, and Exchange Bank.
In the second half of the show, Letitia chats with Steve Schneider, CEO of Homes 4 the Homeless. After losing his home in the 2017 wildfires, Steve spent time living in a hotel and noticed first hand the issues of those living on the streets or in hotels, and thought that there needed to be an affordable, dignified way to get people into homes. He started by using vocational training to help students build shower bathrooms for the homeless, which helped students learn skills while creating a very valuable resource for the homeless. After doing some shipping container housing on the east coast, Steve got connected with Vessel, a company that builds manufactured housing. This kind of ready made home is cost efficient, and can be in the reach of those on limited incomes. Learn more at homes4thehomeless.org
Tune in next month on Tuesday, July 2nd at 12:30 for the next episode of Raise the Roof, featuring guest Cassius Camus of Northern Pacific Power Systems.
